Annapurna Sanctuary Trek- 13 days, popularly known as Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek, is the third powerhouse expedition taking the explores on a spectacular journey on the foot hill of South Face of Annapurna I. Though shortest, the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, is the major trekking destinations in Nepal, allowing the trekkers to get a close view of the world’s 10th most significant mountains Annapurna (8091m), Machhapuchhre (6997m), Annapurna South, Himchuli and Gangapurna. The 13 days- Annapurna Sanctuary itinerary framed by Best Adventure Travels includes the finest two weeks tea house trekking in the majestic glaciers of the Annapurna region, and a strong communal involvement with the Gurung community.
The high oval shaped glacial basin, Annapurna Sanctuary likes 40km north of Pokhara at an elevation of 4000 meters surrounded by the phenomenal ring of worlds highest range, Annapurna which extends 7000 meters. The unique combination of heights and depths allows the sanctuary to receive only 7 hours of sunlight. The whole of the trekking region give rise to an extra-ordinary variety of eco-system, as the south slope is covered with tropical forests while the north region receives no sunlight and remains snowy throughout the year.
The journey starts from the Pokhareli paradise, Pokhara with an hour drive to Hile, from where the real trekking to Annapurna Sanctuary begins from the trek to Ulleri. From the small network trial, we shall explore Ghorepani and Tadapani. We take two days to reach Chhomrong village. The foot walk takes us up to the Modi Khola and into the heart of Annapurna Sanctuary offering the most dramatic view of the natural mountains.

We take an early morning flight from Kathmandu and land Pokhara. The moment we land, we shall be greeted by the majestic views of the Himalayan range, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchre, the other major five peaks of Annapurna and the freshness of the Pokhara valley. We walk through the long steep foothill of Hile and march to Ulleri through the beautiful green forests, Bhurundi Khola and Tikhedhunge village. We take a straight thousand steps steep climbing from the base of Gurung village to the settlement of Magar community in Ulleri which is at 2050m (6725 ft).

Admiring the spectacular scenery of the Annapurna south range, we ascend towards Ghorepani village. We pass through several mini settlements including Banthanti and Nangethanti. As we hike upwards, the mountains of Annapurna range and Nilgiri gets clearer and admirable. Ghorepani lies inside the Annapurna Conservation area, therefore, the place is the acclimatization point for the trekkers and serves as one of the welcoming destinations for the trekkers.

Poon Hill offers a magnificent view of the early morning sunrise; therefore, we gear up for trek to the Poon Hill early in the morning from Ghorepani. The hill station provides an incredible view of Mustang, Pokhara and other 20 white mountains. We spend an hour of two to observe the glistering white mountains of Annapurna South (7,219m), Annapurna III, Machhapuchre (6993m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), and Nilgiri (7061m). From there we move to Tadapani, the hidden region of the Annapurna valley. We climb ridges, descend through the bamboo forests, waterfalls and reach the Tadapani settlements.

The trial of Tadapani to Chhomrong takes us from an end trial to an open terrace space surrounded by the forests, waterfalls and beautiful green and white mountains. Throughout our trekking journey we come across several suspension bridges, waterfalls and reach Chhomrong, the silent village residing quietly beneath the giant Annapurna range.

Before reaching Chhomrong Khola we must cross 2500 stone steps to reach Sinwa village (2360m). We pass through the beautiful forests of Kuldihar and then embark to Bamboo village. The 4-5 hours walk allow us to encounter nature in a very close way, therefore, the walk becomes a memorable and enjoyable one.

We pass through the cold and damp Bamboo forests. We enjoy the magnifying view of the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri mountains and proceeds to Kuldi ghar. The trek takes us to Dovan and to Himalya hotel, which gives us the blaze of natural sun light, and the flowing glacial river. We further enjoy the surrounding view of Mt.Dhaulagiri, and take a trail to Deurali. The sudden change in the vegetation can be felt, as we see the whole of Deurali valley from a cliff accompanied by the flowy waterfalls.

The path drops to the Gurdung Khola, from the Deurali viewpoint. From there we are offered two different trails one to Bagar and the other one to Machhapuchre Base Camp (MBC). On ascending the MBC we get an excellent view of the Mt.Machhapuchre, Gnagapurna, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Mt.Hinchuli, and Annapurna South. From MBC we turn left, and gently ascend the Annapurna Base Camp, which offers an excellent glimpse of the gigantic white mountain Annapurna and its range. On reaching we are surrounded by the white ranges everywhere. Overnight shall be spent in Annapurna Base Camp.

After we spend an overnight in Annapurna Base Camp its obvious for us to take the much healthy view of the panoramic Annapurna range early in the morning. Those morning sun rays, is sure to spread shimmery golden orange color in the whole of base camp. After sunrise we descend downwards, pass Machhapuchre camp, Deurali, Hotel Himlaya, Dovan and Bamboo. We savor back the glimpse of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Himchuli, Annapurna range, Mt.Everest , and stay overnight at Bamboo village.

Through the steep descent to Chomrong village, we walk back to the Modi Khola valley. The walk back journey is comparatively easier to Jhinu Danda, where we shall be spending an overnight. Before reaching Jhinu Danda, to comfort the soaring pain, we can take a dip in the hot spring and take a natural mode of relaxation. From there we walk through the tropical forests, farmlands, terrace and ultimately reach Jhinu Danda.

We re-trace the trail to Matque which is at the elevation of 1070m (3510 ft). While walking we get ample of opportunity to take natural snaps of the beautiful mountains. The flat beds of farmland, the hustling bamboo forests, gives tranquility as we walk to Matque. On reaching we drive back to Pokhara, the City of Lakes. The whole Annapurna Sanctuary trek is sure to put a smile in our face and encourage us to enjoy the vibrancy of Pokhara, therefore, interested trekkers can roam around the lakeside area and enjoy.

We take 25 minutes, Pokhara to Kathmandu flight. On reaching Kathmandu, a complimentary cultural tour is added for the explorers. We shall walk through the narrow and one of the oldest trade markets of Kathmandu. The place is filled with people and is surrounded by the oldest buildings built in the Malla period. From there, we take a pathway to Indrachowk, the popular place for chariot procession and other cultural activities. Our next destination is Kathmandu Durbar Square, the UNESCO listed heritage and the palace of Malla king. Currently, the palace is serving as a museum of Shah dynasty and is surrounded by the stone pavements, courtyards, pagoda style temples, and Kumari Ghar (the residence of Living Goddess).

The 13 days- Annapurna Sanctuary trip comes to an end. Private shuttles are provided to the travelers according to their airport timings.

Our packages are on a twin sharing basis. Single supplement will be available in cities (Kathmandu, Pokhara) and partially in the mountain on request and will cost an additional USD 350.

We can enjoy Nepalese food as well Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, during this Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. We will have breakfast dinners in the lodges from their menu and lunch will be provided in the tea houses while walk every day. All three meals will be served on trek and breakfast will be provided in cities like in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
